The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee leads the Business Law Section’s efforts to recruit and retain lawyers of color, women lawyers, lawyers with disabilities, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender lawyers, young lawyers, and law students ("Diverse Lawyers") for active involvement in the work and leadership of the Section. The September meeting will include updates from the Section’s new DEI board and subcommittee updates from the Lawyers with Disabilities Subcommittee, the LGBTQ+ subcommittee; the Lawyers of Color Subcommittee, and the Women’s Business Law Network.

Ms. Durocher is the General Counsel for the National Council on Disability and served for almost a decade as the Designated Federal Official for International Watch. The President of the ABA appointed her to be a Commissioner on the ABA’s Commission on Disability Law from 2002 – 2011. She designed the Business Law Diplomat Program which was developed to demonstrate the Section’s commitment to lawyers with disabilities and promote opportunities for their advancement within the ABA and the legal profession.
